According to WeatherSTEM, there is a 15% chance of rain as the Bearcats kick off the home opener versus Kennesaw State on Saturday at 3:30 PM in Nippert Stadium. In addition to the possibly of rain, the forecast predicts cloudy skies and minimal wind.
Cincinnati is hoping to bounce back from the season-opening loss at Arkansas but the weather might play a factor. Even though the temperature is expected to be warm at 79 degrees, there will be as high as a 17% chance of rain during the game.
Sunrise is supposed to be around 7:16 AM, which is nearly eight hours before kick off, and sunset will take place at 7:56 PM. There’s a chance the game will still be going on at sunset but it’s much more likely to end closer to 7:00 PM or around then.
Kennesaw State runs a triple option offense which usually keeps the clocking running more often than other games. Depending on how well the Bearcats are playing on both sides of the ball, the game could be wrapping up in less than three hours.

Cincinnati Football: Weather forecast prior to Bearcats home opener
- Forecast: Cloudy
- Temperature: 79°
- Winds: 8 MPH
- Rain: 15%
- Humidity: 62%
- High: 80°
- Low: 61°
Another factor to watch for is the humidity. Since it’s supposed to be relatively warm, the combination with 62% humidity could take a toll on the players. According to the most recent WeatherSTEM update, the high in Cincinnati on Saturday is 81 degrees.
Even though the Bearcats missed a couple of field goal attempts, the wind didn’t have much of an impact and it shouldn’t against Kennesaw State this week either. The winds are projected to come from the Southeast at approximately eight miles per hour.
Unless the likelihood of rain increases, there isn’t much to worry about for the Bearcats, who are 28.5-point favorites prior to kick off. If there is a change in weather, make sure to check back here for live updates on Saturday afternoon and beyond!
