With kick off less than a day away, the Bearcats and Hoosiers are both dealing with a handful of injuries. Indiana will be without multiple offensive lineman on Saturday including several experienced starters.

Cincinnati currently has seven players on the injured reserve with three players ruled out against Indiana. The biggest unknown for Luke Fickell’s team is the availability of senior Ryan Montgomery (day to day).

After suffering a rib injury in the season opener a few weeks ago, Montgomery has missed the last two games and remains out. Charles McClelland and others have stepped up in his absence but it would be nice to get Montgomery back in the mix soon.

Will Pauling (out) is also sidelined indefinitely with an MCL injury but is expected to be back during conference play. A few others dealing with injures are Devin Hightower (questionable) and Dominique Perry (questionable), who haven’t played this year.

In addition to having significant injuries up front, Tom Allen’s team will be without receivers David Baker (questionable) and Jaquez Smith (questionable), plus freshman tight end Ryan Miller (questionable).

Even though Indiana is undefeated, the offensive line has taken plenty of hits including senior right tackle Matthew Bedford (out) suffering a season-ending torn ACL alongside Cincinnati native and starting center Zach Carpenter (out) going down last week.

Carpenter suffered a hand injury while warming up before the game against Western Kentucky a week ago, which forced third string center Caleb Murphy into the lineup. According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Allen explained how Carpenter was injured last week.

"“Very freaky. That doesn’t usually happen. I’ve never had this happen before in my 30 years of that type of thing and that type of warm up because he just did the same thing we always do. But it happened and that’s why you’ve got depth and that’s why you develop guys.”"
