Cincinnati Baseball: Bearcats take down North Alabama to sweep Saturday doubleheader

Coming off a loss in the home opener, the Bearcats were able to bounce back with a pair of wins over North Alabama to sweep the doubleheader on Saturday evening at UC Baseball Stadium!

During the first matchup of the day, graduate starting pitcher Dylan Brosky threw a complete game shutout as Cincinnati blew past North Alabama 9-0 to snap a 4-game losing streak.

Junior designated hitter JP Sponseller gave the Bearcats a 1-0 lead after connecting on a RBI double to score sophomore left fielder Kerrington Cross in the bottom of the first inning.

After jumping out to an early advantage, freshman right fielder CJ Dean picked up his first career home run and junior center fielder Cole Harting hit a solo homer to seal the blowout win.

In the second game of the doubleheader, North Alabama got off to a quick start but the Bearcats responded with five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and eventually secured a 9-8 win.

Freshman right fielder Landyn Vidourek racked up five RBI and two hits, highlighted by a bases-clearing double to regain the lead. Cross added two hits and one run in five plate appearances.

Scott Googins’ team will try to extend the win streak and keep the momentum going as the series concludes with another doubleheader, that is scheduled to start on Sunday at 11:00 AM.
