Cincinnati struggled to find an offensive rhythm early on as Houston got off to a quick start by knocking down six consecutive shots to take a 17-7 lead midway through the first half.

Jeremiah Davenport connected on a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to single digits but the Cougars quickly responded as Jamal Shead knocked down a triple to extend the lead to 31-17.

Houston took a 38-23 lead into halftime as Jarace Walker totaled nine points and seven rebounds. Landers Nolley II had a team-high eight points for the Bearcats but shot just 2/8 from the field.

Wes Miller’s team is looking to upset top ranked Houston and advance to the AAC Tournament championship game. The winner will face either Memphis or Tulane on Sunday afternoon.

It will be important to limit easy shots against Houston as Viktor Lakhin and Ody Oguama attempt to protect the rim. Lakhin tied an AAC Tournament record with seven blocks in the quarterfinals.

After losing eight straight games against Houston, Cincinnati opened as 10-point underdogs according to WynnBET with the over/under placed at 135.5 total points prior to tip off.
