Cincinnati Bearcats coach Scott Satterfield reacted to the 28-26 loss to the rival UCF Knights during a postgame press conference at Nippert Stadium.
Despite coming up short again, Cincinnati continued to find success on the ground but it wasn’t enough to overcome several costly penalties and turnovers.
The Bearcats had an advantage in first downs, total yards and time of possession but a couple of critical turnovers in the first half were too much to conquer.
With an opportunity to go ahead late in the first half, Cincinnati wide receiver Xzavier Henderson fumbled the ball just seconds after picking up a first down.

Cincinnati had a chance to tie the game in the final minutes but a potential two-point conversion fell incomplete and UCF was able to run out the clock.
Following an ejection of safety Bryon Threats in the first half, freshman defensive back Antwan Peek Jr stepped in and compiled a career-best six tackles.
On the final drive of the game, quarterback Emory Jones found wide receiver Braden Smith for a first down en route to scoring a last-minute touchdown.
Jones was replaced by back up quarterback Brady Lichtenberg in the first quarter but returned before halftime and eventually finished the rest of the way.

"“It’s going to take time. It’s not going to get fixed in a couple days. This is going to be a work in progress which we know and we’re going to work hard to see if we can fix that. Just being disciplined and doing little things. That’s everything and not just on the field. When you do things right off the field then you’ll do it right on the field. It may take until January or February. It’s going to be a tough winter here because we’ll have to clean it up. No matter how good you are on the field, you can’t just go win games in this league. It’s just not happening. No matter who the teams are, you have to be a disciplined football team. You can’t beat yourself and we have done that so many times this year. I take ownership in that.”"
