The Cincinnati Bearcats add another big man to their portal class, this time it being George Mason's Riley Allenspach. Allenspach averaged 13.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 0.8 assists last year for the Patriots in 32 games. He brings a good combination of size and shooting, standing at 6-foot-11 and weighing 250 pounds. He possesses guard-like footwork inside, along with the ability to shoot threes at a decent rate.
Allenspach played 24.9 minutes a game last season across 32 games, shooting 56.6% from the field, 31.3% from three-point range, and 68% from the free-throw line. For a guy of his size, his offensive game really is polished. This marks the second straight season the Bearcats have poached an All-A-10 player from George Mason, with Jalen Haynes committing to Cincinnati but never playing a game because of a knee injury and transferring to Dayton this offseason.
Allenspach has had a great journey to Cincinnati, originally playing at Samford as a 3-star recruit out of North Carolina, spending two seasons in Homewood, Alabama, before going to George Mason. Allenspach is ranked as the No. 119 prospect overall and the No. 16 center in this year's portal class, earning himself a rating of 0.9100 according to 247 Sports.
Allenspach pairs up in the backcourt with Boston College transfer Jayden Hastings, Utah State transfer David Iweze, Utah State transfer Adlan Elamin, and Towson transfer Tyler Tejada. Jerrod Calhoun has made it an emphasis to get bodies in the paint and has not disappointed thus far.
Welcome to Cincinnati, @AllenspachRiley!
