Bryson Buckingham committed to Cincinnati on July 3rd, and a lot of Bearcat fans were unsure of what role he would be playing on this year's roster, being part of the class of 2024, then reclassing to 2025 and spending last season at Link Academy.

Buckingham is from Edmond, Oklahoma, but spent last year in Branson, Missouri at Link Academy. Buckingham is joining the Bearcats as part of the 2025-26 roster and just introduced himself to Cincinnati Bearcat fans.

"I chose Cincinnati because of the culture of the team, the coaches, and just the energy the coaches bring every day" Said Buckingham. "I love the culture around here, the energy that everyone brings."

When asked about what he can bring to the Bearcats, Buckingham responded with: "I bring a whole lot of energy, some shooting, and some leadership. I've always been a hard worker and I'm gonna give 100% effort whenever I'm on the floor."

We could see Buckingham thrive in a role that we saw CJ Fredrick try and play the last two seasons but struggle at times. An energy piece of the bench that shoots the lights out and knows exactly what he is supposed to be doing at every moment.

"I think it's important to get to know everybody, build relationships, and just strengthen the culture we already have," Said Buckingham. "If we don't have that when times get hard, we might fall apart and being able to strengthen it right now is the best for us".

In his short time in Cincinnati, not even a month yet, Buckingham seems to have completely bought into Wes Miller and the Bearcats' culture. That is so important when you have a roster of 10-11 new players who have never met each other; being able to become friends, build chemistry, and trust one another is hard to do in such a short period of time. The Bearcats seem to be in a great spot, just 3 and a half months away from the season's start.
