Cincinnati Bearcats commit, 5-star guard Kam Mecer, who attends Princeton High School in Cincinnati, has been turning a lot of heads in the summer AAU cycle lately. Mercer reclassified from 2028 to 2027 and decided to commit to Cincinnati and Jerrod Calhoun on May 21st.

In a recent game at Midwest Live, an AAU Tournament in Sandusky, OH, Mercer scored 25 points, showing why he is one of the top guard prospects in the country. The Midwest Live event also features two Cincinnati scouting targets, Lakota West guard Joshua Tyson and Winton Woods guard Isaiah Mack-Russell. NextUp Recruits noted Tyson, Mack-Russell, and Mercer as Standouts from the tournament.

Bearcat fans are impatiently awaiting Mercer's arrival at the University of Cincinnati, with him being the highest-ranked recruit since Lance Stephenson. "I love Kam's unselfishness when he plays. Facilitates, looks to get his teammates involved, and doesn't force shots. He has a very mature level of basketball at his age." Fans are also hoping that Cincinnati can close the deal on Tyson and Mack-Russell, who have already visited Cincinnati and Coach Calhoun. " Give me Kam Mercer. Give me Joshua Tyson. Give me Isaiah Mack Russell. Let Cincinnati's own bring the glory back home. The road to the Final Four would be even sweeter with our hometown stars leading the way."

Mercer has been praised for basketball IQ and decision-making at such a young age, and when you compare that with someone who is hyper-athletic, has a reliable shot, and plays unselfishly, it almost sounds like the perfect guard you want initiating your offense.
