Jowon Briggs, a former Cincinnati Bearcats defensive lineman, was involved in a trade that sent him to the New York Jets. Briggs was on the Bearcats from 2021-2023, reuniting with Bearcats teammate Sauce Gardner in New York.
Briggs was selected in the seventh round by the Cleveland Browns in the 2024 NFL Draft. A large number of seventh-round picks don't make the 53-man roster, but Briggs has been an exception. As reported by Adam Schefter, Briggs has been dealt to the New York Jets along with a 2026 seventh-round pick in return for a 2026 sixth-roundd pick.
Trade: Browns agreed to trade DT Jowon Briggs and a 2026 7th-round pick to the Jets in exchange for a 2026 6th-round pick.

Not one of the flashiest of trades, but Briggs has some good film out there, enough to make Jets fans excited about giving up a sixth-rounder for him. Briggs has the upside to turn into a rotational piece and maybe even a starter in the Jets' elite D-line room. Briggs joining Jermaine Johnson and Quinnen Williams could end up causing some damage for opposing defenses.
