Cincinnati Football: Potential candidates for Bearcats defensive coordinator search

After the recent departure of Bryan Brown, the Cincinnati Bearcats are considering a series of potential defensive coordinator candidates!

Cincinnati is looking to replace Brown in the coming days and Notre Dame cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens is a potential target.

Multiple others are in the mix to be offered the defensive coordinator job including Bearcats current defensive line coach Walter Stewart.

Tulane defensive coordinator Greg Gasparato and Wisconsin defensive coach Greg Scruggs are among other notable names to watch.

Cincinnati Football: Potential candidates for Bearcats defensive coordinator

During one season under Brown, the Bearcats defense was ranked 12th in the conference by allowing 30.0 points per game in 2023.

Gasparato was set to be apart of the Bearcats defensive staff a season ago before accepting the defensive coordinator vacancy with Troy.

Mickens earned All-Big East honors in his career at Cincinnati and was the Bearcats cornerbacks coach in 2019 before later joining Notre Dame.

Scruggs is a Cincinnati native and the Bearcats defensive line coach in 2021 prior to holding the same position at Wisconsin this past season.
