The NFL decided not to hold a supplemental draft this season, making it so Brendan Sorsby, who just mutually parted ways with Texas Tech, has to wait until the 2027 NFL Draft next April instead of joining an NFL team later this summer.

Sources reported close to the NFL have reported on the NFL's ruling, saying "his application carries with it a lot of issues", and the NFL general counsel saying: "By all accounts, you are a talented player with the potential for future success. We encourage you to focus on preparing for possible entry into the NFL through the 2027 NFL Annual Draft." With the NFL effectively giving Sorsby a one-year suspension before he can go to the NFL, Sorsby and his team have made it known they are going to try to approach this from a legal standpoint. The current Collective Bargaining Agreement makes it unlikely, however, for Sorsby to force anyone's hand legally to join the NFL right away.

This seems like an end to the long-awaited Brendan Sorsby eligibility hiatus that began all the way back in April and will finally come to an end next April for the Draft. It was expected for teams to give up as high as a 2nd round pick and as low as 5th round pick for Sorsby, but with next season's quarterback class being promising with players like Arch Manning, Darian Mensah, Dante Moore, Julian Sayin, Trinidad Chambliss, and Drew Mestemaker, his stock is likely to fall, not playing for a full season. It sounds like Sorsby's situation isn't likely to change; he'll have to wait until 2027 to pursue his NFL Dreams.
