The second day of the Monster Energy Big 12 Media Days kicked off in Frisco, Texas, Wednesday afternoon, and we got to hear the thoughts from players and coaches of eight Big 12 teams, including Scott Satterfield and four Cincinnati Bearcats players, JC French IV, Taran Tyo, Evan Tengesdahl, and Antwan Peek Jr.
During his opening statement of the solo-coach press conference, Satterfield stated that the Bearcats are excited to start their fourth season in the Big 12, which they have improved on every season since joining, 3-9 in 2023, 5-7 in 2024, and 7-6 last season after starting the season 7-1 and earning a ranking of No. 17 at a moment.
The biggest emphasis Satterfield made during his opening statement was on the offensive line.
"I think we have one of the best offensive lines in the country," said Satterfield. The Bearcats' offensive line returns 3-starters, Taran Tyo and Joe Cotton, who were both named to the preseason All-Big 12 team, and Evan Tengesdahl, who is the highest rated LG in EA Sports College Football 27 with a rating of 93.
"Last year we were one of the top offensive lines, and a lot of those guys are back. Not only are they great players, but they are great leaders on our team."
The Bearcats' offensive line last season only allowed 8 sacks, finishing 2nd behind Army, whose quarterback passed for an average of seven times a game last season.
They allowed 43 tackles for a loss, the best in Power 4 and top-3 nationally, averaged 5.7 yards per carry, third nationally, 6.9 yards per play, tenth nationally, and had a top 45 scoring offense and top 50 yardage offense.
Coach Satterfield expects a big year out of the Bearcats, and so should the rest of the Big 12. They did it last year, and only safe to assume they got better upfront this offseason.
