With just a couple days until Cincinnati hosts South Florida, check out a statistical comparison between the two teams! After a record-setting performance agains Tulsa last week, the Bearcats have the most sacks and tackles for loss in the entire nation.

South Florida hasn’t been able to move the ball at a high rate and it’s going to be more difficult against such a stout defense. Cincinnati allows only 20.6 points and 303.2 yards per game, and will look to create pressure and limit explosive plays.

The Bearcats have compiled 23 sacks and 50 tackles for loss, which should increase this weekend. South Florida is led by quarterback Gerry Bohanon but the offense hasn’t had a lot of success so far, averaging just 24.4 points and 343.6 yards in five games.

Cincinnati’s offense has been much more prolific this season, putting up 40.2 points and 439.8 yards per game. South Florida gives up 38.0 points and 487.4 yards per game so the Bearcats should be able to stretch the field and score on a consistent basis.

Since struggling early against Arkansas, Ben Bryant has played great under center and his connection with Tyler Scott has been a big reason. The senior quarterback has racked up 1,383 passing yards, 13 touchdowns and four interceptions in five games.

Scott has a team-high 500 yards and 28 receptions. Charles McClelland leads the Bearcats with 323 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Both players should be able to make a major impact against the Bulls on Saturday afternoon at Nippert Stadium.

South Florida relies heavily on the ground game and sophomore running back Brian Battie will get most of the carries, coming in with 391 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Bohannon has the ability to create big plays as well with 8.2 carries per game.

The Bearcats have a significant advantage in almost every statistical categories but it’s still important to play with the same level of patience against a lesser opponent. Cincinnati should be able to take down South Florida and head into the bye week with five straight wins before two road trips to end October.
