After going down with a sprained ankle versus South Florida, Tyler Scott was forced to miss the win over SMU last week. The star receiver is hoping to return as the Bearcats head to UCF for a pivotal matchup with conference championship implications.

Scott suffered the ankle injury three weeks ago but it was enough to keep him sidelined at practice for most of the month. Luke Fickell explained that Scott could return this week but it’s not a certainty as the Bearcats hope to get their leading receiver back.

During his junior season, Scott has developed into a dangerous deep threat with a team-high 500 yards and six touchdowns on 28 catches. Scott’s absence was clearly felt against SMU as the Bearcats offense struggled to connect on throws down the field.

Although wide receiver Will Pauling returned from a knee injury last week, it’s obvious that the Bearcats need Scott back on the field soon. It sounds like Scott was able to practice this week but his status remains unclear with kick off less than a day away.

Charles McClelland dealt with an unknown injury leading up to last weekend but is expected to play against UCF without limitations. During a midweek press conference, Fickell mentioned if McClelland and Scott will be available per Cincinnati Athletics.

"“McClelland got dinged up two weeks ago and missed a bit of the bye week with an injury but he didn’t shy away. Last week, he had a great week of practice and obviously went out there and performed well even after missing some time with an injury. I’m proud of him but I have even greater expectations as we make a run down the stretch. I don’t know yet but I hope Tyler will be 100% and able to play for us.”"
