Cincinnati Football: Bearcats duo appear on Sporting News Preseason All-American Team

After earning All-Big 12 preseason honors, Dontay Corleone and Mason Fletcher appeared on Sporting News Preseason All-American Team!

Both players were recognized as All-AAC First Team members a year ago and are expected to be major contributors for the Bearcats this season.

Corleone has received plenty of preseason attention, highlighted by being on the Associated Press All-American First Team and several watch lists.

Fletcher took home the 2022 AAC Special Team Player of the Year and was placed on the Ray Guy Award preseason watch list in recent weeks.

Fletcher became one of the most efficient punters in the entire nation as a sophomore before being named a finalist for the Ray Guy Award.

Heading into the season opener this week, Corleone was placed on a pair of preseason watch lists including the Nagurski and Outland Trophy.

Scott Satterfield’s staff is hoping to build momentum in the Big 12 and both players will be leaned on to bring consistency and leadership.

With a determined and experienced roster in place, Corleone and Fletcher are hoping to find success as the program adjusts to Big 12 play.

As the regular season opener against Eastern Kentucky approaches, Cincinnati announced four team captains for the 2023 campaign!

Bearcats defensive duo Jowon Briggs and Dontay Corleone are captains alongside quarterback Emory Jones and center Gavin Gerhardt.

Corleone is hoping to build on a historic redshirt freshman season and Briggs is looking to cap off his memorable career on a positive note.

Jones was named the Bearcats starting quarterback in late April, while Gerhardt is the only returning offensive lineman from last year.
