Cincinnati Football: Dontay Corleone placed on Lombardi Award preseason watch list

As the regular season opener approaches, the preseason honors continue to roll in for Cincinnati Bearcats star defensive tackle Dontay Corleone!

Corleone was recently placed on the 2023 Lombardi Award preseason watch list alongside several talented offensive and defensive linemen.

Scott Satterfield’s staff is hoping to continue building momentum entering this season and Corleone will be a significant part to the success.

The Lombardi Award is annually given to a lineman that exemplifies outstanding character in honor of NFL Hall of Fame coach Vince Lombardi.

After a historic redshirt freshman campaign, Corleone was named to the Walter Camp Preseason All-American First Team in recent months.

Corleone was included on a pair of watch lists including the Nagurski and Outland Trophy, given to the nation’s top defensive player each year.

Moving to the Big 12 will certainly come with plenty of obstacles but Corleone is expected to bring stability to the Bearcats defensive unit.

The Colerain High School product took home All-AAC First Team honors last season and should compete for All-Big 12 recognition in 2023.

Bearcats defensive line duo Dontay Corleone and Daniel Grzesiak appeared on the Sports Info Solutions Preseason All-Big 12 Team!

Corleone is expected to contend for the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year as he hopes to build on a spectacular redshirt freshman season.

Grzesiak was one of the most sought after transfers in the portal after totaling 52 tackles and 8.5 sacks during his only year at Utah State.
