The NBA Draft started on June 23rd, with plenty of Big 12 talents coming off the board in the first round. AJ Dybantsa from BYU went to the Washington Wizards, Darryn Peterson from Kansas went to the Utah Jazz, Kingston Flemings went to the Atlanta Hawks, and Brayden Burries went to the Milwaukee Bucks, all within the first 10 picks of the draft. Christian Anderson from Texas Tech would go to the Charlotte Hornets, Cameron Carr would go to the Los Angeles Lakers at No. 24, and Chris Cenac Jr. (Houston to Boston), Joshua Jefferson (Iowa State to Brooklyn), and Koat Peat (Arizona to Dallas) would finish the first round. Nine Big 12 players went in the first round, with players such as Baba Miller, Richie Saunders, Emmanuel Sharp, Jaden Bradley, Tobe Awaka, and Milos Uzan all expected to be drafted in the second round.
The Cincinnati Bearcats have a couple of former players who will make a run to get drafted in the second round: Baba Miller and Dillon Mitchell. Miller, who averaged 13.0 points and 10.3 rebounds last season for the Bearcats, is the No. 4 player available according to ESPN draft analysts. Mitchell, who spent last season at St. John's after transferring out of Cincinnati, averaged 8.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists last season, being a very versatile athlete and defender. Mitchell comes in as the No. 10 player available according to ESPN draft analysts.
Miller and Mitchell are both sure to be selected in the final 30 picks of tonight's second round, meaning Miller would be the only current Bearcat in the NBA.
