When Jerrod Calhoun took the Cincinnati Bearcats Head Coaching job all the way back on March 24th, it was known that he would bring some of his players from Utah State with him. Of the three players that Calhoun brought, Adlan Elamin might be the most exciting. Elamin stands at 6-foot-9, 185 pounds, and during his freshman season this past year, he averaged 6.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 0.9 assists across 35 games, averaging just under 20 minutes played per game. Elamin was rated as a 4-star transfer, the No. 31 power forward in the portal with a rating of 0.9100. Elamin is tied for third in the Bearcats Transfer Portal class behind Tylen Riley, Myles Colvin, and tied withRiley Allenspach. His play style seems NBA-ready, not fully relying on his freakish athletism but taking advantage of it when he needs to. It's almost Kevin Durant-esque, being listed at 6-foot-9, likely being taller but playing like a guard. And if he can bulk up and grow into his body, the sky is the limit.
The Freshman from Arlington, Virginia's best game of the season, came in conference play against UNLV at home. Elamin scored 15 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, had 2 assists, and had 2 steals. Elamin also had a strong showing against Villanova in the NCAA Tournament, scoring 13 points to go along with 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Elamin showed he can produce against top-tier programs.
Along with Elamin coming from Utah State, Jerrod Calhoun brought over another Aggie freshman, Elijah Perryman who is also a very promising young player if he chooses to stay at Cincinnati. The third and final Aggie that Calhoun brought over from Logan, Utah, is David Iweze, a freshman 6-foot-10 center who redshirted this past season.
Welcome to Cincinnati, @AdlanElamin!
