Cincinnati Bearcats offensive lineman Evan Tengesdahl has been gaining a lot of attention this offseason, and it hasn't ended with Tengesdahl being named a Preseason All-American by the Associated Press.
Of the other honors, awards, and recognition that Tengesdahl has received this offseason, he was the highest-rated player at his position in EA Sports' College Football 27 at a 93 overall. He was named preseason first-team All-Big 12 by Big 12 media; he was placed on the Outland Trophy watchlist, which goes to the best interior offensive linemen; he was named on the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy watch list, which recognizes players for their community service, leadership and academic standing. Finally, Tengesdahl was named a captain of the Bearcats team this season and was also named a preseason All-American by On3 Sports, Phil Steele, Sporting News, Walter Camp, and Pro Football Network.
The Bearcats' offensive line is regarded as their best position this upcoming season. Tengesdahl plays a huge role in that, but other players help Tengesdahl succeed. Taran Tyo, the returning right guard for the Bearcats, is regarded as one of the best at his position, and you can't forget Joe Cotton at left tackle; standing at 6-foot-6, 320 pounds, he is one of the best tackles in the country too. With Cincinnati's starting center from last season, Gavin Gerhardt, going to the NFL, Cincinnati's Xavier Lozowicki is expected to fill the gap. The right tackle spot is expected to be given to 6-foot-8 junior Nolan Latulippe.
The Bearcats are going to once again have one of the best offensive line units in the country, and this unit is going to take the offense as far as they want.
