The Cincinnati Bearcats have added another non-conference game to the 2030 football schedule, this time it being the Murray State Racers from the Missouri Valley Conference. The Bearcats announced a 2030-31 home-and-home series with the Michigan State Spartans. The game will be played at Nippert Stadium in 2030 and at Spartan Stadium in 2031.
The Bearcats and Racers last played on another on September 11, 2021 at Nippert Stadium where the Bearcats won 42-7. Cincinnati was ranked No. 8 in the AP Poll heading into the game an improved to a 2-0 record with the win. Bearcats quarterback Desmond Ridder passed for 243 yards on 16 of 26 passing and 2 passing touchdowns. He added 58 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Bearcats running back Jerome Ford rushed for 79 yards and 2 touchdowns. Wide Receiver Alec Peirce caught 5 balls for 81 yards and Tre Tucker caught 3 balls for 62 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The Racers went 1-11 last season with a 1-7 record in the Missouri Valley Conference. Their lone win came against Indiana State in the final game of the season on November 22, 2025. The Racer win 31-17 on the road to avoid an 0-12 season. They scored 17 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to take a commanding 24-3 lead.
Murray State is likely to be improved from last season, but with 28 new players either coming in from high school and the Transfer Portal, it's hard to know what to expect from teams from smaller conferences.
