Cincinnati Bearcats guard Day Day Thomas will be making his NBA Summer League Debut tonight for the Boston Celtics alongside former teammate and Bearcat Dillon Mitchell who was drafted No. 40 by Boston in the 2nd round of the NBA Draft. To go along with Mitchell, Thomas will also be playing with Hugo Gonzales, Amari Williams, Chris Cenac Jr., John Tonje, Milos Uzan, Tucker DeVries, Curtis Jones, and Caleb Grill, to name a few. The Celtics Summer League kicks off tonight against the Toronto Raptors, where he will be facing off against a pair of former Cincinnati teammates, Aziz Bandago, whom he played with from 2023-25, and Jalen Celestine from 2025-26.
In Thomas's three-year career at Cincinnati, he is one of, if not the most, memorable players from the Wes Miller era. Playing all three seasons in the Bearcats' first three years in the Big 12, he was an integral part of the transition into the Power 4. For his career, he averaged 10.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.5 steals per game across 100 career games for Cincinnati. He shot 39% from the field, 35.3% from the three-point range, and 82.9% from the free-throw line, improving almost every season he was with Cincinnati. By his final season, he was averaging nearly 12 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal, shooting 38.3% from three-point range. Thomas has shown his ability to adapt, and NBA teams are giving him a chance.
After the Celtics take on the Raptors tonight at 9:00 on ESPN, they take on the Charlotte Hornets on July 12th, the Atlanta Hawks on July 13th, and finally the Sacramento Kings on July 15th. All games are being broadcast on ESPN, ESPN2, or Prime Video.
