The 2026 NBA Summer League is over, and with a handful of former Bearcats participating in the summer league games, lets recap some of the perforances we saw from former players. Day Day Thomas and Dillon Mitchell both played for the Boston Celtics. Jalen Celestine and Aziz Bandago played for the Toronto Raptors. Baba Miller played for the Los Angeles Clippers, and Viktor Lakhin played for the Sacramento Kings.
Miller was drafted in the 2nd round No. 36 overall by the Clippers, and recently signed his rookie contract for 4-years $9.61 million and was the first second round pick to sign his rookie contract. He appeared in 5 summer league games, averaging 12.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game. Miller shot an impressive 61.8% from the field, 50.0% from three-point range and 72.7% from the free-throw line. for comparison, his shooting percentages at Cincinnati were 53.0%, 19.0%, and 66.0%.
Mitchell, who played for Cincinnati in the 2024-25 season, was drafted by the Boston Celtics at No. 40 in the second round. He and Thomas reunited on the Celtics summer league roster together. In four games, Mitchell averaged 13.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 2.7 steals per game. He shot 52.6% from the field, not attempting a single three-point-shot. In his Summer League debut against the Charlotte Hornets, Mitchell scored 24 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, and had 3 steals in an 87-75 victory. Thomas appeared in 4 games, averaging 8.8 minutes played. He scored 8 points, grabbed 2 rebounds, and had 2 steals against the Sacramento Kings in 18 minutes played.
Celstine played in 5 games for the Raptors after being signed to a summer league deal shortly after the conclusion of the NBA Draft in late June. He averaged 6.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 0.8 steals, shooting 46.4% from the field and 37.5% from three-point range. His best game came against the Houston Rockets, where he scored 14 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and had 2 steals. He shot 5-of-8 from the field, including 4-of-6 from three-point range. Bandago also played in 5 games for the Raptors, averaging 5.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game. He shot 72.2% from the field. His best game came against the Denver Nuggets in the Summer League Championship, where he scored 12 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and blocked 4 shots. Bandago's performance likely earned him a spot on the Raptors 905 G-League team.
Viktor Lakhin appeared in 5 games for the Sacramento Kings, averaging 7.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game. His best game came against the Charlotte Hornets, where he scored 12 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and dished out 3 assists.
