The Cincinnati Bearcats took on Victoria (Canada) in their opening game at the Baha Mar Hoops Summer League in the Bahamas. The Bearcats starting lineup consisted of Elijah Perryman, MJ Collins, Myles Colvin, Tyler Tejada and Jayden Hastings. Tylen Riley would likely be starting over Perryman, but he went down with a hand injury last week. The Bearcats won by a final score of 110-63, with Collins leading the way with 15 points.

Hastings, a transfer big man from Boston College got the scoring started with a post move down low. Perryman scored 5 points and Collins scored 2 points on fast break opportunities helping the Bearcats take a quick 9-5 lead into the first timeout.

Akai Fleming , Adlan Elamin, Trevian Carson, Eric Mahaffey, and Riley Allenspach all checked in for the Bearcats out of the first timeout. Elamin hit a quick three-pointer as soon as he checked in joined with a forced turnover by Mahaffey, forcing another timeout with a 15-5 Bearcats lead.
David Iweze checked in for Cincinnati and scored 4 early points and a steal, showing off his size and athleticism. The Bearcats went into halftime leading Victoria 55-22.

The Bearcats dominated the second half in a similar fashion, they looked more locked in to getting looks closer to the hoop rather than outside. Myles Colvin had an impressive reverse dunk to give the Bearcats a 94-49 lead with 6:26 to go in the second half. Texas A&M beat this same Victoria team 112-88 just a couple days prior. The Bearcats defense may be a lot better than we thought.

The Bearcats next game at the Baha Mar Hoops Summer League will be on August 5th against Calgary (Canada) at 2:30 p.m.
